Post haste – from Yarmouth to Royal Ascot?

Another day, another first-time-out two-year-old winner for Wathnan Racing… Just 24 hours after Underwriter’s impressive racecourse debut at Ayr, Postmodern emulated the feat in a maiden race at Yarmouth. The colt was trainer Hamad Al-Jehani’s first juvenile runner of the season and made it all look easy yesterday, storming five lengths clear of his rivals under jockey Jamie Spencer.

‘That was very exciting,’ Wathnan’s Richard Brown told the media. ‘I’m delighted for Hamad and his team as they’ve done a great job with him. He’d done some nice work at home but he hadn’t been asked to do too much, so we thought he’d run well, but we weren’t expecting that at all.

‘It’s hard not to be excited by the way he won,’ Brown continued. ‘Without a shadow of a doubt he’s one of our most exciting juveniles. I imagine he’d go straight to the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot now.’
