G2 Flying Childers glory for Final Objective as Silver Lake lands fourth consecutive win

Exciting two-year-old Final Objective justified favouritism when charging home under James Doyle to land the G2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster’s St Leger meeting.

A graduate of the Goffs UK Breeze-up Sale, the Sioux Nation gelding has progressed nicely throughout the season for Hamad Al Jehani, having run at most of the major meetings this summer, including when finishing only two lengths off the winner in the G2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot on only the second start of his career.

His easy maiden win at Thirsk in August was followed by a close second to Arapaho Gold in the G2 Gimcrack Stakes at York’s Ebor meeting, and he has continued to thrive on his racing. This breakthrough Group success on his sixth start – and his first over the minimum distance of five furlongs – puts him among some of the best juveniles of the year.

Doyle was quick to heap praise on the team at Al-Jehani’s Newmarket yard, especially the horse’s regular rider, Qatari jockey Faleh Bughenaim, who also partnered Final Objective in his first two races.

He told Sky Sports Racing after the win, “It’s a true testament to Hamad and his team because he’s not been an easy conveyance. Faleh Bughenaim has done a great job with him as he rides him out every day.”

Doyle added, “He was outpaced a little bit early on but he has decent form at six [furlongs] and this was his first time dropping back to five. It wasn’t a problem as he showed more than enough speed. I thought he’d go and win the Gimcrack but when he got out he just hung his chance away. He was trying to do a similar thing today, so he’s not easy but he’s more straightforward than he used to be.”

Later on the card, three-year-old Silver Lake continued her own stellar progression when winning her fourth consecutive race for William Haggas off a mark of 92 in the British Stallion Studs Premier Fillies’ Handicap. Black-type races surely beckon for the consistent daughter of Night Of Thunder.
