Molfit wins first leg of UAE President’s Cup
Continuing a sensational international run of success for Wathnan Racing – from York to Saratoga and now Istanbul – purebred Arabian Molfit landed the G3 Malazgirt Trophy, the Turkish leg of the prestigious UAE President’s Cup.
Trained in France by Francois Rohaut, the six-year-old was racing over a mile for the first time of his life, but dropping back in distance proved no challenge to him as he battled to the lead under Faleh Bughenaim to post the third win of his career and his first at Stakes level after placing multiple times in Group 1 company.
Molfit is likely to be seen back at that top level on the first weekend of October during Paris’s hugely anticipated Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe meeting. He is currently one of seven entries for Wathnan Racing in the Qatar Arabian World Cup at Longchamp on 4 October.
