Ali has been part of Wathnan Racing since its inception in 2022 and holds the position of General Supervisor of the Racing Department. Ali’s role at Wathnan is to oversee racing operations worldwide, and he also represents us at race meetings both in Qatar and around the globe – including at his favourite meeting, Royal Ascot. Ali is an integral part of the leadership team, and one of the main driving forces behind Wathnan Racing’s development into a premier international horseracing operation.
Ali was introduced to horseracing in 2011 through his previous role within the leading global equestrian organisation, the Al Shaqab Qatar Foundation, renowned for its excellence in equine education, breeding, welfare, and research. Through Al Shaqab, Ali began attending race meetings at Doha where he quickly became fascinated by the spirit of competition. The exploits of champions Frankel, American Pharoah, and the Purebred Arabian Tabarak have had a great impact on him as he discovered the thrill of horseracing. Ali has developed a deep knowledge and understanding of the sport, and of both Purebred Arabians and thoroughbreds.
