Ali manages Wathnan Racing’s stud farm in Doha and has been part of the Wathnan team since July 2022. His passion is to see the Wathnan breeding program grow and prosper in Qatar and Europe, with the aim of producing the best thoroughbred and Purebred Arabian horses in the world. The great Purebred Arabian champion Abbes gave Ali one of his greatest racing experiences, when carrying the Wathnan Racing silks to glory in the HH The Amir Sword in 2023. A true horseman, Ali is a former Olympic showjumper and represented Qatar at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro. He then became a board manager for the Qatar Equestrian Federation before he was elected as general secretary of the Federation in 2021, where he was responsible for managing all national and international events. Ali inherited his passion for horses from his father, the late Yousef Al Rumaihi, one of the founders of equestrian sports in Qatar who was the Manager of the Qatar Equestrian and Racing Club and President of the Arab Equestrian Federation – the family also bred and owned Arabian horses for showing and racing.
